Celebrating a Life Well Lived

I was named after Poppy's father, Ezra, and I have always felt a special connection to Poppy because of that.

What made my grandfather, Poppy, so special was his selflessness and kind heart. He cared so much about everyone, and always put others needs before his. He was the kindest man in the world.  He always thought of other people and strived to please everyone, and he certainly succeeded. I was so lucky to have him as a grandfather.

I remember when I was a baby, Poppy would always make a popping noise like this with his mouth [makes popping noise] to make me laugh. That is how we started to call him Poppy.

One of the many great memories I have of poppy is when I slept over at their house when I was younger. In the morning we always went to burger heaven for breakfast to have blueberry pancakes. The first time we went to order the pancakes, they said they didn't have blueberries to put in them, so Poppy went to the supermarket to get some. From that day on, we always brought blueberries with us to the restaurant – until they finally added it to the menu.

While we were eating, we would always play 20 questions and slaps, both games that Poppy taught me. I loved playing them with him. I will never forget all the fun times I had with him.

We always went on fun trips with him, and my favorite thing to do was go visit him and Nana in London. They would take me to the swings and to ride on the double decker bus, and we had so much fun.

Even though Poppy is no longer with us, he will always have a special place in mine and all the other grandchildren’s heart, and I will never forget him.
